Causing fibrosis and cirrhosis of the liver and eventually hepatocellular carcinoma, it is the leading cause of liver transplantation in the U.S. No vaccine is currently available.

Lentigen is collaborating with Epixis SA to develop a Hepatitis C virus like particle (VLP) vaccine. VLPs have been developed as highly effective vaccines, an example being Gardasil. VLPs are empty virus particles that are stripped of genetic information, thereby making them extremely safe.
